How to Avoid Common Interview Mistakes

Walking into a interview is sometimes a stressful situation. Avoiding a few common mistakes can put you above the rest and help you land the job.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Proper attire
  1. 1
The first thing you will want to do is not come to the interview with an arrogant attitude. Your potential future employer isn't going to be impressed with some one that seems like that are better than everyone else. Don't talk yourself down but don't make it seem your better than everyone including your future boss.
  2. 2
Don't answer your cell phone during the interview process. This is a highly inappropriate behavior. Just use common sense. Always be polite and courteous to the person that is giving you the interview.
  3. 3
Always listen to the person giving you the interview. When they ask you a question about anything listen then give an appropreiate answer. If you constantly asking "What was that" during the interview becuase you are not listening the person will pick up on this and most likely not give you the job.
  4. 4
Dress for success for the interview. This means a good suit or whatever is suitable for the job you are interviewing for. Make sure you have proper hygiene and your clothes are clean and neat.
  5. 5
During the interview don't put down any of you previous employers. This will not make them look bad. It will only make you look bad and disrespectful.
  6. 6
Before you go to the interview take the time to learn about the company you are interviewing for. If you are asked a question about the company you will have the answer. The person giving you the interview will be very impressed with this and will put you far above the other people that have interviewed for the job.
  7. 7
When the interview is over be sure to ask the interviewer when they plan on making a decision for who they are going to hire for the job opening. This will let you know when you can expect an answer and let you not make the mistake of calling them back too early before they have made a decision.

How to Avoid Online Job Hunting Mistakes

Finding a career via the Web is certainly possible, but there can be mishaps in online job hunting too. Here are some things to avoid when using the Internet to find a job.

  •  1

  • Don't just hit up the big guys. Big-name websites like Monster and CareerBuilder are wonderful resources for online job hunting, but don't stop there. They charge fees that some smaller companies can't afford or don't believe in paying. Make sure to check out smaller job boards or job board aggregates such as indeed.com (see Resources below) to find more online gigs.

  • 2
Don't use your company's email to job-hunt. Even if your company says it's OK to use their email server to send out resumes, don't do it. You can get in trouble with your existing company, plus it won't look like a move in good taste to the prospective employer if you use your work email. Another setback: If you're contacted in the future and are no longer at your current job, you'll miss the message. Set up one email account with a professional handle (your name, for example) and stick to that.

  • 3

Don't blast off your resume. Blast out your resume, but with some personal attention. Don't just fire it off into the Internet abyss. More importantly, a customized cover letter can go a long way to win over an employer, so be sure to take the time to customize one as best you can.

  • 4
Consider your privacy. While you may not want to post your contact information, that's OK for many people who see it as a move from someone who is Internet-savvy. Be sure to check out the privacy settings when posting your resume and do what feels right for you--and for your future career.

  • Connect with your website visitors on Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox

One of our lesser known but very useful products is the Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox. With a copy and paste of some code, you can embed a chat window into your website, blog or social networking page. Then when visitors come to your page, they can see when you’re online and initiate a private IM conversation with you.
My friend Jim has a Pingbox on his neighborhood blog. While he’s on Yahoo! Messenger all day, his status says “Available” in his Pingbox. When visitors come to his site, he can see the counter change next to the Pingbox in his contact list. If someone wants to chat with him, they simply start typing in the Pingbox on the website, which in turn opens up a new IM conversation for Jim. His visitors can remain anonymous or give themselves a nickname while they chat.
One of the greatest things about Pingbox is that there is no need for anyone to know your Yahoo! ID or for you to know theirs. In fact visitors to your site don’t even need a Yahoo! ID to start chatting with you. You can also turn your Pingbox on or off right from your Yahoo! Messenger 10 contact list, so if you find you’re being interrupted too often by chatty visitors, you can go dark for awhile.
Jim says one of the things he really likes is that when he hovers on the Pingbox visitors in his contact list, it will show him what page on his site that visitor is on. But mostly he likes to see the number of people that are passing through his site all day and be available to them. He says he’s gotten some good tips about neighborhood stories from his Pingbox chats.
If you have your own blog, website or social networking page, it’s easy to add a Pingbox.Just visit the Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox Studio and click the “Create a Pingbox” button. You can customize your background, text size, display name, and whether or not you want to show your display image. You can even put in a custom message that users will see in the Pingbox when you’re online, or when you’re offline. Once you’re done, you’ll receive some code that you can copy and paste into your site.
Then just login to Yahoo! Messenger using the same Yahoo! ID under which you created your Pingbox and voila – you’ll see a new group in your contact list and if you have visitors, a count next to the group name. Note that in order to appear online and receive messages from your Pingbox, you need to be signed in to Yahoo! Messenger 10 or Yahoo! Messenger for Mac. However unlike version 10, the Mac version does not display your Pingbox visitors in your contact list.
Do you use a Pingbox on your website, blog or social networking page (e.g. Facebook, MySpace)? Tell us about your experience in the comments.

ICC sticks to plan for ten-team World Cup 2015

Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, has said there will be no going back on the decision to reduce the 50-over World Cup from 14 to ten teams, despite protests from the Associate countries who are likely to be left out of the tournament in 2015.
"We have felt in the past few years that Twenty20 is the best format to develop the game world-wide and it provides a better environment for competition," Lorgat told PTI. "The 50-over format is more skill-based and suitable for the top teams."
To compensate for the loss of places in the 50-over tournament, the ICC has added four spots to the Twenty20 World Cup, making it a 16-team event, but Cricket Kenya chief executive, Tom Sears, told AFPthat the ICC will not be acting in the interests of the game if the smaller teams were locked out of the next World Cup.
"If we have to improve on the standards, there is no point of denying us the opportunity of competing at the top level." Sears said. "We had a meeting with the other Associate countries during the World Cup training camp in Dubai last week, and we plan to raise the matter again at the World Cup. We are disturbed about the whole issue."
In an earlier interview with The Wisden Cricketer, Sears, called the decision "scandalous and bloody ridiculous", saying "I've no desire to be diplomatic... Not to let anyone else in is scandalous. It's all about money, power and votes - and that's not good for cricket."
Former Kenya captain Steve Tikolo and batsman Collins Obuya also voiced their concerns, saying the World Cup remained crucial for the development of the Associate countries. Kenya famously made the semi-finals in the 2003 World Cup, but remain the only non-Test team to have made it so far into the tournament.
Several leading players from the Full Member countries came out in support of the Associates as well, with England offspinner Graeme Swann asking: "Why would you want to take the world out of the World Cup?" He was joined by Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, who said, "to play against the best players and sides in the world is massive and I wouldn't want to take that away from anyone," and South Africa wicketkeeper AB de Villiers, who saw value in the smaller nations' involvement in major tournaments. "It makes it more colourful and it's good for the growth of the game."

Promote Your Website With Website Promotion Tools

How to promote your website with website promotion tools that will increase traffic and get valuable one way links to your website
Do you own a web site? Have you fully optimized it to achieve high listings on Google, Yahoo and Bing? You have? That's good. Excellent! Are you getting those elusive top page listings on Google and all the other major search engines? No? That's not so good. You are probably missing one vital ingredient, one way links from other web sites.
One way back links are necessary to get google juice into your website.
So how do you get these precious incoming links that will promote your website and lift you to the top of Google?
You can trawl the internet and find likely websites that may want to link to your website. You can send them an email asking if they are willing to place a link on their site if you put a link to their site from yours. This is also a waste of time. Nobody will be willing to do this, and even if they are willing, where are you going to place links to them on your site? You will need to weave these links into your own text so they look natural. It will be an awful lot of effort on your part and it could be counter productive because Google can easily spot these reciprocal exchange links and will regard them as spam. You may get your website penalised, demoted or even banned. Be very careful.
So what's the answer? In a nutshell Article Underground, where you can promote your website..
Mike Liebner, an internet marketing guru, set up Article Underground in 2006. He provides subscribers with 400 unique highly optimized articles each month on many and varied subjects which you can modify as you wish, and place them into your own website. I have used hundreds of these articles to good effect on my own websites in the past.
But the best thing about Article Underground is the ability to place links to your website and inside web pages onto the 60 websites that Mike has set up specially that gets you hundreds of those elusive, but extremely valuable and necessary one way links to your own website. There are a further 60 members websites where you will get links from. I regularly use this facility at Article Underground all the time to float, and get new websites moving up the search engine listings.
If you are serious about getting your website to the top of Google, I suggest you take a really good look at Article Underground. Mike has got loads of information and videos about how to use these articles, but remember, it's not the articles you are interested in, but access to the 120 or so websites where you can get masses of one way links to your site.
Do the math, get thousands of valuable one way links. Lets say you have a website with 20 sales pages that you want to be seen on Google. There are 120 websites that you can get links from. Lets assume that only 40 of them are suitable for your web content. You can submit to 5 categories on each website, so that's 200 links to your website for each page you submit. So, say your 20 pages are submitted to 5 categories on 40 websites, that's a grand total of 4,000 one way links to your website. Just imagine the lovely Google juice you will get with this type of exposure. Provided you have optimized your website properly as well as doing all this, you will see your website whizzing up to the top of Google, Yahoo and Bing in next to no time.

Attract More Visitors With Free Online Games

Websites are becoming more popular all the time. One of your main goals is to get traffic to your website and with so many sites available today, the competition can be tough. So what can you do to get more traffic to your website and keep the visitors coming back? One method that many people have started using is adding free online games to the websites.

Online gaming is extremely popular and free online games tend to get lots of attention. This is why you can attract more visitors with free online games when you place them on your website. They have great potential and it's something that you shouldn't pass up if you're truly serious about generating traffic to your site.

How does providing free online game on your website generate more traffic? When someone visits your site they will see the game or games that available. Many visitors will be intrigued and give the game a try. If they like it, they will continue to visit your website to play the game. This is your opportunity to provide information, products or services that also captures their attention. It's a known fact that the more someone visits your website the more they are likely to develop an interest in what you have to offer.

Since people of all ages love to play online games this is something that would be appropriate for any type of site as long as you choose games that would interest the age group that you are targeting. For example, if you're targeting the young adult, you may want to have some type of action game that will keep them on the edge of their chair. On the other hand, if you're targeting a more mature group then mental games and puzzles may be more appropriate. You can try a couple different types of games to see which one gets the most attention.
If you have a website that revolves around gaming adding a couple free online games for your visitors to play would be a nice touch. It's sure to get you lots of attention and many visitors will tell their friends to check it out. This will generate even more traffic to your site.

When your website is ranked by the search engines one of the things that will be taken into consideration is the number of repeat visitors that you have. Another thing will be the uniqueness of the content found on your site. Offering free online games will help to accomplish both of these goals. This will help you to receive a higher ranking and they can make your site look more professional as well.

    Blogging for Dollars

Blogging for dollars might sound like the latest game show or some new drinking game, but it's the latest craze to hit the Internet. Bloggers began blogging for a number of reasons, but as the blog movement has increased in popularity, they have found ways to monetize their blogs and are seeing their commitment pay off.

Whether a blogger's focus is to communicate with customers or just to have fun, they have begun looking at ways to earn revenue from their blogs. The most popular ways for bloggers to earn some added cash for their pet projects are:

    1. ) Google Adsense in Blogs
Google AdSense allows webmasters to dynamically serve content-relevant advertisements in blogs. If the visitor clicks one of the AdSense ads served to the blog, the website owner is credited for the referral. Webmasters need only to insert a Google-generated java script into the blog or blog template. Google's spider parses the AdServing blog and serves ads that relate to the blog's content. Google uses a combination of keyword matching and context analysis to determine what ads should be served.

    2. ) Affiliate Programs (Product Endorsements)
Affiliate Programs work when an affiliate web site receives income for generating sales, leads, or traffic to a merchant website. Generally, bloggers will mention or endorse specific products and if site visitors purchase the product, bloggers will receive a portion of the sale.

    3. ) Product Promotion
Businesses use blogs to detail how specific features or product add-ons can increase functionality and save time. Content-rich product promotion will help with search engine placement.

    4.) Banner Ads
While less popular than in the past, websites with high traffic levels can still earn decent revenue by selling banner space.

As the Internet evolves bloggers will continue to seek out ways to monetize their opinions and thoughts. Daily journals and online blogs have become more than just a communication means to many.

"My job is to play and make runs." - Shewag

Virender Sehwag might have taken extra care to make sure he batted deep into India's innings at Mirpur, but when it comes to his press conferences, middle overs continue to remain conspicuous in their absence. He talks like he bats, and after his 175 - his longest one-day innings in terms of runs, balls faced, and overs elapsed - his reaction was: "I am happy that at least once in my career I have batted 47 overs." That was followed by a warning: "I was planning to bat 50 overs. I couldn't do that, but hopefully I will do so in coming games."
That came moments after a similarly forthright show at the presentation ceremony, where he said, "Everyone did well, other than Sreesanth." He also said this was a grudge match after India's defeat to Bangladesh in the 2007 World Cup, something not many like to admit. He also maintained that Bangladesh are not a good Test side. "They can compete in ODIs, but today they could not."
Inside the press-conference room, the fun continued. The mix-up with Sachin Tendulkar, which resulted in the latter's run-out, was delightfully explained. "We discussed we will take it easy on singles," Sehwag said. "He was calling, and I was not listening, and I was looking at the ball, yeah. For a fraction of a second I thought I had made a mistake, but you know when I went to the dressing room, he said, 'It's okay. What's important is to win the game for the country. It's not important who is performing.'"
In Christchurch, in 2009, when Tendulkar retired hurt on 163 at the end of the 45th over, Sehwag told him he had missed out on a double-century. At 175 in the 47th over, Sehwag said he himself didn't think of that mark. "Not at all. When he came back not out, eight or nine overs were left. When I came back, three overs were left, and I still had 25 to get. I would have had to play 15 out of those 18 balls, so I wasn't thinking of the double-hundred. My target was to bat 50 overs, no matter how much I score."
His own innings, Sehwag termed the most satisfactory "as far as overs are concerned". It was obviously a conscious effort to play a longer innings, and take fewer chances. One of the bigger challenges of such innings is the middle overs, when fields are spread. Sehwag said his plan was to concentrate on taking singles. "It was easy for me to rotate the strike. I think I hit a six on 49, and after that till 75 or 80 I was just rotating the strike because I knew I had to play 30-40 overs, and if I do that I would get a hundred. Still my strike rate was more than 100."
There was praise for the other centurion, Virat Kohli, and not just hollow praise, but analytical appreciation. "Whenever we spoke in the middle, we told each other to not throw our wickets away. I still remember against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy [in Centurion, in 2009], he was playing well, but he played a shot straight to long-off. After that he has scored six hundreds. Sometimes a little nudge is enough for some people. He is a quick learner, and a mature batsman."
The last question to him was if he feels any pressure from the pundits that he is most crucial to India's prospects in the World Cup. Sehwag's dead-pan reply was, "My job is to play and make runs."

    Passionate Bangladesh provides perfect opening

For a sport that has a bad history with opening ceremonies, nothing could have been more welcome than the sheer enthusiasm and passion with which Bangladesh had put together its show...........

Shakib Al Hasan rides in to thunderous applause, Dhaka, February 17, 2011

Those who were not at the Bangabandhu National Stadium will never know just how successful and moving the opening ceremony of the 2011 World Cup was. Those who saw it on TV would have cringed at Sonu Nigam crooning an English inspirational song, Bryan Adams of all people being the top draw, recordings of Shankar-Ehsan-Loy's unremarkable theme song playing on loop, and the politicians inducing yawns with their speeches.
Those who were here, though, saw, heard and felt the heartbeat of Bangladesh cricket. What happened inside the stadium, sold out by 25,000 people welcoming the World Cup with open arms, was only a minor part of it. There were 25,000 other fans - and this is a conservative estimate, mind you - outside the stadium, with no hope or intention of getting in, partying away to their own rhythm of vuvuzelas, carrying Bangladesh flags about 50 feet in length, celebrating the World Cup.
The reception for the World Cup on the streets of Dhaka was the closest cricket can get to a football World Cup. There was no giant screen outside for them, the music could hardly be heard there, there was obviously no alcohol to keep them going, but they danced and made merry, choreographing their own moves. There was not an inch of space in about a kilometre's radius of the Bangabandhu Stadium. Nigam, Adams, Mustafa Kamal (the BCB chief) might as well have not turned up. The crowd either side of the stadium wall couldn't care less.
There were journalists at the ceremony who have covered cricket World Cups, Olympics, Asian Games, even football World Cups, and they swore they have never seen anything like this before. For a sport that has a bad history with opening ceremonies, nothing could have been more welcome. It didn't need the Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina to declare the World Cup open. The World Cup was open when at 2am last night, thousands were dancing on the streets, signing the best-wishes bat, and tens of cars went round and round the Bangabandhu Stadium. And when similar scenes were taking place at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, which didn't even have anything to do with the opening ceremony.
And to say that the 50-over format is supposed to be dying. Not in the subcontinent, not in Bangladesh by a long shot. However, like with the good old ODIs, the opening ceremony had its middle overs. Nigam followed up his Celine Dion act from the recently held Filmfare Awards back home in India with a self-composed song titled Rise Up For Glory, which showed that his great voice needs to be rescued, from himself. The politicians took about half an hour of valuable time, and were on the verge of inviting a streaker. The crowd mimicked and made fun of one of them, another speaker gave two different figures for Bangladesh's population in half a minute, and ICC chief Sharad Pawar tried to speak Bangla but no one could make out a word of what he said.
In the bigger picture, though, all those were minor irritants. There were some very nice touches to the ceremony. Local artists performing before the main function started was one such; getting popular, almost legendary singers, Mumtaz, Sabina Yasmin and Runa Laila, to share the stage was another, as was the crowd going crazy at the first sound of Bollywood music in an overstretched celebration of India.
Then there was the laser show involving the towering 24-storey Bangladesh Development Bank Building . On a long white curtain, a cricket pitch was projected. From the top floor, men tied on harnesses came down. Two batsmen, bowler, keeper, slip, umpire, cover, midwicket were all there. One man was pulled up suggesting a bowler running in to bowl. The ball was a laser pointer. In one over of "aerial cricket", they showed a forward-defensive, an lbw appeal, a scrambled single and overthrows, a play-and-a-miss, and a boundary.
The best, and the most unforgettable, moment was when all the captains were brought in on cycle rickshaws. One captain on each rickshaw, with a young boy sitting beside him, waving to the crowd, and the crowd responding generously. They came out alphabetically, Australia first, with one exception - Bangladesh were saved for the last, and more importantly Shakib Al Hasan for the very last. Few present at the Bangabandhu Stadium will ever forget the applause that Shakib walked out to.
Put the applause for the other 13 captains together - and they were not stingy with any of them - but it paled in comparison. That noise was enough to know what the World Cup meant to the country. In that moment, the traffic jams, the poor singing, the long speeches didn't matter. Over to Shakib's team now to make sure the party goes on deep into the tournament. The people deserve it.

One billon Indian hopes flying on the wings of Sachin !

1.2 billion Indians love to win the Cup, aided by the exploits of Sachin.

He needs three more to make it 100 hundreds in international cricket. Can he do it this WC?

He holds all records, even the highest no of runs in WC ( 1796 runs ). All he needs is one more record. A century in the World Cup ( God willing, at the final at Mumbai, which is his home ground) !

While this wonder genius boy has given India all records, this honour has eluded him. We have seen Clive Lloyd powering WI to win in the final in 1975, Viv Richards doing the same thing in 1979 and De Silva doing the same in 1996. A century at the WC final ! A century, where it matters !

He holds a divine status in India. He is to the Indians

Their second Moses, whose extended wand
Divides the seas and shows the Promised Land !

About India's chances in the WC, all say "Everything depends on Sachin". Kapil Dev and others say do not put pressure on a single player ! So true, but then this may be his last Cup and he will definitely rise to the occasion, as he had done in the past !

"Everytime I go out, my country needs me", said this wonder boy.

According to Dhoni, this extra burden will not hurt India's chances at all and there is an imperative need to help Sachin complete his CV by delivering the country of over one billion its second World Cup title.

When India toured England, the then British Press said India was heavily reliant on Sachin. When India toured England again, BP called Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly as the Three Musketeers, with Azharuddin being D'Artagnon !

Now the scenario is different. India has enough players. There is the powerhouse Sehwag, who has scored two triple centuries !. Gambhir, Dhoni, Yuvraj are all centurions. Kohli is No 3 in ICC Rankings and Pathan is considered as one of the most destructive batsman in ODIs. Raina is the most promising young batsman in the world ( Akram ). Even Bajji, who cracked two centuries recently and who comes at No 8, bolster Indian batting ! That is why Kapil Dev said dont put pressure on Sachin unduly, as other players can also dazzle in this form of the game.

This Indian team has been compared to the formidable Sri Lankan team of 1996, when SL played with seven batsmen and two allrounders !

    MTV Roadies does it again
